while i do not care for his hokcyeplay, and lack of sportsmanship, he is human and has been hospitalized with a Heart Attack that stems from a ruptured spleen in last nights game. Prayers to him and his family in this troubled time.

Not to mention he isn't a bad guy off the ice. He's said it many times, that is the misconception about himself that people make. Hope he's alright.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/04/30/avery_spleen_done/

This is the latest from Sportsnet.ca (a canadian sports channels website)

Not sure if there are any more recent developments, but this says that he's expected to make a full recovery and states that it wasn't as serious as first thought, serious enough, but non-life threatening...

glad to hear he should be fine...

I actually have tremendous amount of respect for avery, because he does manage to getin peoples heads Draw the penalty, and on top of all that, he is a tremendous hockey player. I'd love to have him on my team.

Give him credit for being a good hockey player and a great pest that get's under others' skin... but to be honest he crosses the line in order to do so. However, Avery is just what the NHL needs to gain popularity in the States...

I just like him because he's funny. He doesn't cross the line, if he does, he gets a penalty. So no there is nothing wrong with it.
