Has anyone ever skated/played on synthetic ice? I was just wondering how it was, what characteristics you liked or didn't like. I want to open a skating rink in Florida, and was entertaining the idea of using this product from one of several companies that offer it. A friend and me are looking for a low cost option to get something started for leagues and pick-up as well as your normal evening free skate to the public. Anyone who wants to chime in, please do so. I am looking for positive and negative experiences. _________________ Pens Win in 2009! Stanley Cup!

You have to be careful when choosing the right synthetic ice. I've heard first hand horror stories about some and great experiences from others. Just keep in mind that they are not all the same quality. There are ones that pro teams use to train on (esp. to improve leg strength) and there are those that you can't even rec skate on because they are so bad. _________________ Efe

| I never did any rec skating on synthetic ice, but the one goalie coach that I went to when I was 12 had some good synthetic stuff. Tougher to skate on than ice, but still worked well enough to do butterfly slides and similar moves. |

| Quite hard to move on, but it's good. Helps build the muscles. I'm on it tomorrow with a puck machine for an hour. |
