I am a full right goaltender that is most comfortable with glove on left hand. However i do shoot right (full right). Would it be wise to switch sticks and learn to shoot left? I would then avoid having to flip the stick around to play the puck, does it really matter in the end?

If you prefer the glove on your left hand, you're not full right.

Making saves > Playing the puck

Don't flip everything around just to make puckhandling more comfortable.

Yeah - you'll end up screwing yourself over, and look at it this way.. you're likely to get say 30 shots in a game that you need to stop... and the chances of you needing to play the puck are WAY less than that. Stick with what you've been doing. Being a better puckhandler won't help you at all if you don't stop the initial shots.

My question would be, which hand do you catch a baseball with???? That's also the hand you should have your trapper on. Don't try to switch it up just to make your stick work better. You'll have to make more saves in a game with your glove then situations where you may have the chance to stick handle a little. Work on the stick handling and it will come.

yes that does make sense. i catch (baseball) with the glove on the left as well. Tell you one thing, there is not much selection when it comes to a right handed goalie stick. I am going to stick with how i learned. thanks!

Cujo does this, he switches everything around, catcher on the knob of the stick to shoot the puck, but only when there is time to do so.

I started out full right and then switched.
idk why I did it, but I played my first ever game full right and then next game played regular.
I won't go back to playing full right because regular feels better.

Yah i flip the stick over, but usually I just one hand it with the knob of my stick press on my back. A little quicker then and still (almost) accurate.
