no offense to you, you can belive what you want, i'm not telling you not to, i just belive god has much more important things to do than worry about a hockey game, or sports. But thats just me. its OK that you do, i don't want to offend anyone, just my opinion

not particularly for a flawless game just so that no serious freak injuries happen in the game like the throat slit or anything

About the religious thing - I always talk to 'God' (or whatever anybody believes to be God in here) and just ask to play a solid game, watch my angles, cover the rebounds, etc. I don't really expect him to prioritize my hockey game over everything else, but it's just a strange habit I started doing at random. It's more like I'm talking to myself though, because when I do it I always duck my head inside my C/A and talk quietly before the coach comes in to give his pre-game speech.

After that, it's mostly just tapping the posts in a certain order. Or if I'm having a really good game - I won't drink from my water bottle at all until the flood for fear it'll throw off my game.

During the 1st and 2nd period (no flood) I always need to stand along the boards away from my teammates and talk to myself again, review any good/bad plays I might have made, and do 2 quick butterfly slides.

during the game, i dont clean my crease until i get scored on. then i clean it after every play. then, when i get scored on again, i stop cleaning it. and so on and on.

same with my water, but the other way arond, so...

before 1st goal: water, no clean
after goal: no water, clean

and so on, and on

I always wear a helmet when I play because I think I get less injuries that way.

The only time I ever touch my posts is to knock the shavings off my blade after I clear the crease (which I do after basically every stoppage). I also say a quick prayer before the game but I wouldn't consider that a superstition.

Ooh! I just remembered a big one I just started a few weeks ago!
I always wear argyle socks. It started just picking them by chance to wear to the game and I ended up having a great game. The next week I picked another pair (different color) and had an average game but we won so it was good enough. The next game I wore stripes and let in five goals!

Morale of the story: Stripes bad, argyle good Very Happy

P.s. Yay! Pro!

before each faceoff tap right post then left post with stick then go into ready position and then i open and close my glove a few times. if its in the faceoff circle to the right or left of me i tap the post once with my glove or blocker(depending which side) and then go into ready postion.

Has anyone seen what Barry Brust does before the puck is dropped on a faceoff?
he goes into his stance, but instead of putting his stick blade on the ice, he just continually taps his left pad until the ref drops the puck.
it's weird and idk why he does it.

I clean my crease after every stoppage. I get shutouts that way cause it's just me and my crease.

I always end up drinking like 3 of those big bottles once I get to the dressing room if I have a wicked game (meaning shutout or a 1-0 game, where I could go the whole game including the flood without drinking)
