Prepare how you usually do. Just play. It's a wonderful game, and we should all feel privileged to be out there enjoying the game.

In the end, it's just a game.

I've definitely got to go with mx on this one. I've found the key to me having a good game(no matter if it's a "big" game or not) is to have the same little ritual before every game and sometimes during the games as well. When I come out on the ice, I skate around the rink a couple times, come back to the corner to the left of my net and drop down to do my stretches. After that I go to my net and go through my ritualistic tapping. First the underside of the crossbar with my stick four times, left post, right post, left post, right post, left pad, right pad, left pad, right pad, c/a three times, ice, c/a, smack the ice four times and get into the stance, staring at the center ice face off dot. Cool Weird I know, but it's the same thing for every game....even pickup, and it puts my head in a place that it's just another game....no pressure....make the stops you can and have fun.
Works for me.

Heh Last week we were in western regional s competing for nationals. We were the underdog team matched up against some raw Cali teams and Alaska teams. We lost our first game. Then our second game it was 1 to 1 going into the third, we ended up winning 1-3, I had 36 saves. Second game we were down 3-0 half way through. Coach pulled the other goalie and put me in, we ended up winning 4-3, I had some Carey Price behind the back save going heh. So we made it to the semi finals 3rd seed against the 2nd seed who was the LA Jr kings, predicted to beat us. Coach put me out for this game. First period we were down 2-0 already 19 shots against. We tied it up at intermission going into the third, 2-2. We won the game 3-2, 42 saves. Their crowd of about 1000 was there throwing stuff and screaming. So we were in the finals, finally we worked our way there. I was nervous but focused. We came out, a crowd of about 2000 now was there for this was the home team. We lost 4-0, 37 saves. It sucks but it happens. I hope this won't be the case for you.

I'm not going to re-type or copy everything I just wrote in the "PS season" thread.

Short and sour, we lost 4-1. Our team must be the masters of choking in the post-season... has happened the past 3 years. We dominate all year, and then we just keel over and die.

It's going to take a while to erase the pain from this one let me say...

R2MN - It's just girls houseleague... which actually makes it sound worse that I was so amped for it, because it really means nothing. But maybe it's just my mentality... every game means the world.

it's awesome that you were pumped for it. that's the goalie i'd want on my team, the one who treats every game like it's the be-all-end-all. That's the goalie that's going to get the job done.

It matters to you and the girls you play with, that is all that counts in the end.

True... and they knew how much this game meant to me, I've never gotten so many "You played amazing" after a game before.

But on the bright side, I got asked to fill in for a women's league team that plays every Friday. And I still have another month of helping out with 2 teams... so it's nice to know I'm not completely off the ice yet Smile

It's my time to feel this exact way... 2 hours 45 minutes to go.

way worse.

11-0 loss.

I recorded it, and I'll post it if I can.

Worst game in months for the team.

If it makes you feel any better I posted a record setting 17-2 route in the Alumni tourney I played a couple weeks back. The team I played for had their H.S. coach there and he said I faced 73 actual shots which didn't make me feel so bad until I thought about this...how the F**K does my team let them take 73 shots in 60 minutes? Ugh...remind me never to play for Springfield if they ask again.

Sorry to hear about the loss though Itech

That's the thing...I let in I think 20 goals over three games...which is apparently why every other decent goalie in the city turned them down...but I still had a blast. I just enjoyed the team's personality and the ice time. And it was kind of fun because I made a few insane saves that really pissed off these teams that were taking this tournament way to seriously.
