im gona try that opposite motion sounds weird, but i use the 1 handed axe in the leg technique  are refs dont catch everything, it's much faster just give him a couple of those until it hits the soft spot

I just slash until he doesn't come back, but if he is running you and stuff stick the blocker right in his face, that hurts.
If he still stays give him a good swipe in between the legs, if that doesn't work pull a Hextal on him and use your stick like a baseball bat 
That will keep the ref on the look out.

This only works if they have the older style skates:
Position your stick in the little hole between their blade and the boot of their skate... leave it there without them noticing, and then once they try to skate away, you keep a firm hold of your stick and they'll trip and fall. Refs can't call you on it either because it's usually so sneaky.
