How many of you have a redbull before a game?
I've had two of my own schools of thought. One it can hype me up so much I have trouble focusing, but other times it helps me be exactly in that zone. I don't think I've had a shut without having a redbull, but I could be mistaken.
This year I've had a total of 5 shutouts. ... redbull or not ? |

| Every morning before I play drop in I drink either a Rockstar (red bull brings back very very bad memories) or a VitaminWater Focus...It's just enough to wake me up and help me focus to play just that little bit better than I would without either. It may be mental or it may be effective. |

I used to live off energy drinks... but the crashes were horrible. I don't drink them anymore... except for during exam time.
I had one once before hockey, and couldn't even stand still while the puck was at our blue line. |

energy drinks are not good, too much caffeine, and sugar.
5hr energy works. _________________

Just eat right and play off your natural energy. I'm assuming that's what most pros do as well? _________________

I'm with R2MN and pjh on this one. Although I do have an energy drink before a game if I'm fatigued or tired, I would recommend the 5 hour energy drink or the new 7 hour one as they're made specifically so you don't crash.
Eating right makes a big difference as well. Make sure to eat right during the day and you'll be fine during the game as long as you stay hydrated.
The other thing is making sure to be well rested. There's nothing like trying to stay focused in a game when you only got 4 hours sleep the night before. Not fun at all. _________________

| I don't really have the luxury of eating right and the crash isn't really a concern of mine but I'm sure both of those are better alternatives then red bull. |

I will usually eat pasta, and drink whatever. If I am playing late at night, or need a little extra, Emergen-C works for me. It has a bunch of vitamins, and wakes me up a little bit more. The best part is, I can actually fall asleep when I'm supposed to after the game. Red bull etc, I'll be up till 5or 6 am. _________________ 6'1" 185 lbs.

How do you not have a luxury of eating right? That makes no sense what so ever. |

True, but how many people go in and buy a whole cucumber and just chow down? To cut up the veggies takes time... and time is effort, better spent studying... or playing hockey. |
