Alright, I'm just taking this survey for business class becuase there aren't enough goalies in my school to take the survey. And I don't want to ask another goalie I actually know just because that would be weird. So if you can fill out the survey I would appreciate it. Thanks.

This is a goalie pad company I'm starting, so here's some questions. It might be a little lengthy, but please fill it out Smile Wink

Please number 1-20:

1. Where would be an ideal location for the business?

2. How often do you buy a new set of pads?

3. Should I sponsor pro goalies?

4. Should I supply my pads to other retailers

5. What pads do you currently use?

6. What are your favorite pads?

7. What level of hockey do you play? (If you're in a rec, just say rec, I don't need to know if it's the best league around)
8. Would you prefer to purchase pads online or at a retail store?

9. What is your race?

10. What are your favorite pad graphics? Top 3

11. Who is your favorite NHL goalie?

12. What style do you play?

13. Do you own a computer?

14. Favorite hockey magazine? Top 2

15. Favorite television network? Top 2

16. Favorite blocker? Top 3

17. Favorite catcher? Top 3

18. Favorite leg pads? Top 3

19. Preference on where pads are manufactured?

20. TV, Magazine, Computer, or Newspaper?

1. Where would be an ideal location for the business?
- not overly important if you're able to ship - but definitely in a major city, preferably with a large hockey base. Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary come to mind immediately.

2. How often do you buy a new set of pads?
- dunno - probably every 5-7 years, but I don't play much.

3. Should I sponsor pro goalies?
- not pro - start with lower levels... too hard to compete with RBK, Itech, and the other big boys for the Pros.

4. Should I supply my pads to other retailers
- if you can manufacture them fast enough and in high enough quantity without sacrificing quality, then it might be a good move. But might be best to keep sales in house until the company is developed more

5. What pads do you currently use?
- RBK 6k. I'm just a rec player.

6. What are your favorite pads?
- Dunno. I like what Smith does, but haven't tried them. Not alot of experience with different pads... but my next ones will likely be Smiths.

7. What level of hockey do you play? (If you're in a rec, just say rec, I don't need to know if it's the best league around)
- rec.

8. Would you prefer to purchase pads online or at a retail store?
- Retail store - or preferably direct from manufacturer (ie. in person)

9. What is your race?
- Human (er, Caucasian if you're really caring)

10. What are your favorite pad graphics? Top 3
- Smith 4000, Smith 5000(2008), RBK PII

11. Who is your favorite NHL goalie?
- Grant Fuhr

12. What style do you play?
- spastic hybrid

13. Do you own a computer?
- uh huh.

14. Favorite hockey magazine? Top 2
- don't read hockey magazines.

15. Favorite television network? Top 2
Fox, CBS

16. Favorite blocker? Top 3
- can't say - not enough experience with different models

17. Favorite catcher? Top 3
- can't say - not enough experience with different models

18. Favorite leg pads? Top 3
- can't say - not enough experience with different models

19. Preference on where pads are manufactured?
Canada, North America.

20. TV, Magazine, Computer, or Newspaper?
- TV, Computer.

Wow, you guys are different...I was hoping this survey would be conclusive and I could just sponsor like the consensus favorite goalies. Although I did get two Quebec suggestions for the store, so that was good.

1. I got a couple Toronto's, a couple Quebec's, an Ottowa, a Minnesota. I'll probably end having the store in Canada, that would probably make most sense marketing wise.

2. I think I'll go with 2-3 years on the pads. I get new pads every 1 or 2 years. Some of you get pads only when you're desperate for new ones. And goalieboy gets new pads every couple months because freakin' loaded.

3. I probably won't go NHL with it because of the fees and draw backs of it. I'll probably sponsor up and comers in College, the Q, and the USHL.

4. I'll distribute the pads to select store and website such as goaliemonkey and some other places.

5. There wasn't really much of a point to this question other than to take up space because I had to make a 20 question survey.

6. Vaughn, RBK, and Itech were all up there. And those are probably the 3 most popular in the NHL.

7. I'll probably just market to all levels

8. No one seems to care. Online stores have more options and retail stores you can see the pads up close. So I'll do an online store and retail store.

9. All of you are white, but I could have already guessed that.

10. I'll likely just copy V3's, Iceberg, and PII's. Those were suggested and they're my favorite.

11. Like I said I think I'm going to start smaller since this is supposed to be a small business.

12. All make the pads full butterfly

13. Most people have a computer, so that's probably the best marketing

14. I'll probably advertize in The Hockey News and Goalies World

15. I supposed I'll do TSN and Fox

16. The next 3 questions didn't really matter, just taking up space

17.

18.

19. I'll probably do Canada made pads.

20. I'll advertize primarily on the TV and the computer, with some print ads

Thanks for the feedback, I still would like more, though Smile Need to be accurate

JUST AS A NOTE - YOU SHOULD PROVIDE AN OPTION FOR CUSTOM DESIGNED PADS IF YOU WEREN'T ALREADY PLANNING THAT (GRAPHICS WISE, AS WELL AS COLOUR WISE.) THAT WOULD BE A DECIDING FACTOR FOR MANY PEOPLE WITH A MORE CREATIVE FLAIR THAT WANT SOMETHING UNIQUE.

sorry bout the caps - i was in the middle of working when i typed it... dont' want to type it again.

In regards to question #2 - If I had the money or played often enough, that's about when I'd get new pads.

Unfortunately, I'm only on the ice about twice a week for my own hockey, and sometimes 4 times when I help out younger teams. So it's not worth my while to invest in new pads so often.

For my next set of pads - I'm probably going to be getting Smiths. Heard great things about them, not sure if that has any impact on your survey.
