|
I've posted this topic with a sticky so it will stay at the top of this forum heading. That way anyone who wants to can take a look each time they log on.
I'd like everyone to stick to the topic on this one please. Just post the link to the goalie videos and you can let us know who made the video and what it covers if you want. I'm also going to ask that it just be used to post links. No replies please because I don't want members to have to scroll through a bunch of meaningless posts to find the links. Thanks.[/b] _________________

I'll get it started. Here's a good instructional video by Corey Wogtech. It gives pretty good instruction on recoveries and moving to cover the angles on rebounds without wasted movement. Butterfly slides, backside slides, T push, etc.

The absolute best video solution available is at futurepro.com.
It's a 4 disc DVD set under Merchandise. It runs about $130CAD but is worth every penny.
There are sample clips available too with a couple gems of info. |

here's some other good ones, it's pretty easy to get the drills that they're doin when they repeat it like 5 times.

Canadian Man:
Thanks for starting this thread, first of all. I think this pretty much exhausts what youtube's got to offer us.
You posted the Wogtech vids in a response to one of my posts awhile back...the guy seems incredibly solid, like he's got goaltending down not just to a science but an art form. In the beginning of his first vid (only 3 out of 4 seem to exist) there's an intertitle that says something about how his skills are more comprehensive than some top-level goalies. I'm wondering why he doesn't play NHL or some higher level then? Have you heard anything? I'm curious to know. _________________ ATHLETES FOR THE ECONOMY OF MOVEMENT (AEM) |

I'm not sure why he hasn't made it to the NHL or a higher league then he's in now. I've only seen his videos and thought they were pretty good instructional videos. It could be that he's a better instructor then a big time goaltender, or it could be that he just hasn't gotten his big chance yet. _________________

That seems about right...I'm not sure how old he is either, but it just sort of occurred to me when I was watching the video of him in action.
Anyway, today hockey resumed and I got to try out a lot of the stuff I'd learned from those videos. I think today I sensed a kind of breakthrough--I'm at the point now where I can say I know what I'm doing. I can't say I'm refined or I'm doing it very well, but thanks to those videos especially I have an acute sense of technique and correct response to what's happening on the ice.
Sorry, this is totally off-topic for this thread (I will copy and paste to a new one) but I'll leave it up here as a testimonial to the effectiveness of Wogtech's videos. _________________ ATHLETES FOR THE ECONOMY OF MOVEMENT (AEM) |

this video u posted is good for skating practice, but i think he has his glove way too up. I have mine much lower and a bit in closer to the puck so i can catch pucks that are shot on my left pad. So i don't give them a rebound chance. _________________

i hold mine at head level or a little lower because i find it easier to drop the glove than bring it up.look at manny fernandez and thats about how i hold mine. _________________
