When I moved to University I changed teams to the University one as we didn't have to travel as much but was in a lower division.

Now my old team has dropped down into our division so we will eventually play against each other. I still train with them too so I know all the players.
There is a tournament coming up that my team isn't entered in and my old team's goalie is going to be out of the country for, so my old team got special dispensation to have me play for them. Its not in the league round robin so if we win or place it won't affect the standings.

So do you all think I should play?

Your team isn't playing so no time on ice there...it's not going to affect the standings...and it's more ice time? Hell yes I'd play!

Sure, you should play. Since it doesn't affect anything else in your league.

Even if it affected my team's standings, I'd play. Hockey is hockey, and in the long run all I want is ice time.

Yeah I am gonna play, the team president kicked up a stink about it though.

I just wanna hold a trophy again!

I certainly wouldn't go this far. I understand that ice-time is ice-time, but there's a point where you have to think about the team you play for. If you turn your back on them for ice time over team and it actually causes harm to your teams standing then I sure as hell wouldn't expect them to ever play defense for me again.

Since this isn't the case for Todd, I say screw the team president, tell him to enter the team in the tourney next year and until he does to stuff it.

Okay, real life example:

Last year one of the teams in our division had a goalie that got sick. She called me about 2 hours before the game and asked me to fill in, so I did. This was still when we were a 6 team division. Mind you, our team was still pretty dominant and I was filling in for arguably one of the worst teams... so it didn't really affect my team so much as it did every other team, because we won the game 2-1.

i'm with PS on this... in florida we might have 8 teams and 5 goalies. When i was 15, I'd play my game, get a call the next afternoon to sub in for the first adult game, midway thru the 3rd a ref would tell me "a team wants to know if you'll sub in for them after this"... and again, and again... i'd end up playing all 4 games.

the league in gainesville, we had 6 teams and 3 goalies would show up on a tuesday night. I played for my team, and at least 1 other team every single week, and most of the time i played all 3 games.

I will never say no to an opportunity to see shots. I won't do it, I'm psychologically unable. Shit... i'm rocking back and forth right now thinking about it.

Ditto that. Hell, even this season if another team needed me I would've gone out and played.
