This may be an equipment problem but i think its a technique issue.
When I butterfly, my pads create an open V where the top of each pad converges in the middle. I am 6' tall and use Tomas Vokoun old 36" Eagle butterfly pads. When Im butterflyd, the pad surface laying on the ice meets squarely with the the other pad creating the bottom of the V. At the top, they are open. If I try to use my hands to push the tops together i dont get much movement.

I dont wear my pads really loose but I am wondering if my toe ties are keeping the pad from rotating completely on my leg. Ive tried looseing the leg and skate straps to give more room for movement but that does seem to help. And I have checked, the top of the pads are square and not angled to begin with.

Again, any suggestions would be great.
Thanks!

you are torquing your pads, so you are wearing them to tight. The problem your describing originates from down on the skate, likely your boot strap is to tight, and or a little more give in the toe tie, but note, some times you can reduce this issue, by loosening the straps and ties, but some times you can not, or you have end up with "feel" issues. If pucks are not going in from this, and the pads are rotating well, Id leave it alone.
