Because it's not a realistic game situation. Guy comes in 5 feet away and has all the time in the world to wind up?

And that's when we get hurt. It doesn't give you enough time to react if he lifts it too much or whatever.

I been hurt plenty ib game. It sucks, but it's part of the game. However, there is no excuse to run any kind of drill in warmup that can hurt the goalie.

It could be. And you don't have to react, if you have half decent position you don't need to react, you just drop and let it hit you. A slapshot to your padded shoulder, or chest, or stomach isn't going to give you a serious injury. So suck it up and stop being afraid of the puck.

Ifthey want to do that in practice, fine... but in warm-ups I'd say "f*ck you" and knock my teammate down.

Because warmup is supposed to be for a light shot, a quick skate, stretching, and warming up the goalie. No wicked slap shots, and massive deeks, and most of the time, they can't even do them in the real game.

exactly... during practice I'd be more likely prepared for it, and if they want to take their goalie out during a practice fine... but say the slapshot goes high and hits the goalie in the head, you can get a pretty nasty headache... and FS, maybe you enjoy playing with headaches, but I don't. I WILL play, just the headache will be bothering me allgame and take my focus off te play.

Maybe it's because I have a job to go to in the morning.

Little one, I've had my share of injuries playing a myriad of competitive contact sports. To this day I still do full contact karate. But the kind of stupid ass things that are done in warmups and practices have no place in front of a goalie.

You're still just beating around the bush. What does you playing contact sports have to with anything? I used to do karate, too. You have no valid reason why it shouldn't be done other than you're afraid of getting a bruise. If you face the shot straight on, it's going to hit padding. I guess I would prefer them not to do it just because I don't want to be hurting if it hits me the wrong way, but it isn't an asshole thing to do, they're just warming up and putting you in no real danger.

i dont want them too do it, but if they do, fine. its when they deke, just makes me mad. cuz a warm-up of ours is three lines at the blue line, and they go in a row taking slap-shots from the point. but theres always 2 or 3 kids that come all the way in and try to deke around you. i just turn to the next shot, and then they get it Wink

I would do the same...

I had the same problems when I played with boys. They just don't understand the meaning of warmup...like montreal961 said:

I believe you. Ive seen girls/women warm up before games, and really, they really know how to do it. Some guys know how, but most are just out there.
