Hi, I'm 14, just starting to play ice, and I've got my first set of evaluations for ice hockey next week. I know a lot of basic stuff like the butterfly and stances ( I play butterfly with my glove at my side, not up). I play 3 or 4 hours of street hockey a day with kids who are gonna be in my league and they say im really good but my big worry is the difference between the road and ice Shocked My dad has got me in power skating and goaltending lessons but I'm looking any tips you guys could give a new goalie.

P.s. Im signed up for house league.

Just get on the ice and free skate if you can, as much as you can. Just use all the time at practice when they are doing something without you and do the letter drills.

I haven't heard many cases of house leagues cutting goalies, but just learn some basics of skating and, like auburn said, do some free skates. Just go online and on Youtube and see if you can learn a little more before evalutations. You should be alright.

1. Learn forward and backward c cuts, so that you can skate forwards and backwards in your stance.
2. learn how to shuffle...big for big lateral movements like post to post to post or 2 to 5 or 3 to 1. Also because that standing push is also what you need to Blfy slide from your ready stance.

your going to do just fine.

Well, if you have a carpet, I use skates with skate guards on. But if you don't, shoes would be alright.
