When you're butterfly-sliding, make sure you get the leg that you're pushing off with completely vertical. If you have it at more of an angle you won't go nearly as far as fast.

If you check out any hockey related website, usually they will have some - especially if there's a section more goalie-orientated.

Other than that, just do a lot of leg training - it's mainly what goalies use out there. Just pushing off from a post to get across the crease - mostly in the legs. Running is a big one, squats, stairs... pm FS and he can send you his personalized workout plan, absolutely free Very Happy Wink

You didn't just ask that, did you????

Of course its worth it. Your 14, you have a LOT ahead of you. Work hard, never give up. This is something that could last you a longgg time. This can be a lifestyle, or a hobby. Aside from marrige, this is the most important desicion you will EVER make!

OK, not really, but hell yeah its worth it!!! Very Happy

Based on my little bit of expeirence I'd agree because I played twice yesterday and found that I was far better in my net. We won 3-2 and lost 4-3. In the second game I got two bad bounces which kinda made me mad. First one was a slapshot from the top of the circle-i was in the right place (according to my coach) but it hit me then the post then went in. The second one was another slapshot-closer in though. It hit my stick and bounced over my pad. Any tips for avoiding this?

on the first one, nobody covers the whole net, those shots will go in every once in a while. on the second one, slapshots in close have a lot of energy and are going to bounce all over the place no matter how good you are at rebound control. it going over your pad is just a tough break. dont let it get you down.

Another update- I played 2 more games yesterday, 1 for a team whose goalie was injured and one for my team. First game, playing for the the team whose goalie was hurt, i had a shutout and we won 3-0 Very Happy Very Happy . That felt really good. That team was way better defensivly then my team. When i played for my team we lost 3-0 which hurt because we should of won. The ref actually said to me after the game we were the better team... or i was the better goalie, i'm not sure which Confused . Do you guys think the team in front of you makes that big of a difference? Oh, and i had one more bad bounce- shot from the top of the circle, i butterflied it hit my stick, rolled along the top of my pad and then trickled in Sad Shocked. we lost 3-0 in that game. But the coach said none of them were my fault. got beat by a deke on a breakaway and a rebound my team couldnt clear plus the sh@t bounce. Overall though i did better than last week. Too bad my team is having trouble scoring Sad . Thanks for all the help, tips and support guys Very Happy

Next Update: I played yesterday against the best team in the league. We lost 2-1 and except one goal in the first i played far far better than i expected to. First goal was a scramble in the crease, i couldnt cover it so i swept it away but one of my defencemen skated in and accidently kicked it in. Second goal was bad. Breakaway and he wired it from the high circle area. Hit the post and in. In the second my team scored and i shut the other guys down for the rest includin 3 breakaways Very Happy. I definitly feel like i'm getting a lot better quickly.
